It is always a good idea to have an insurance policy if you do something that may jeopardise sensitive data. You could manually copy important files to a safe location, but it is a better idea to use a backup utility, to avoid human error. FileBack PC will copy any important data to a location of your choice, according to a precise timetable or when you tell it to execute a backup job. The software provides numerous features, which allow you to prepare your backup jobs however you want.

The setup package is only 4 and a half MB and it takes a few moments to complete the installation process. FileBack PC is not free, but its trial version is fully functional. This means that you can use its functions, without any restrictions, for a limited time period.

Backup jobs, rules and options for executing certain tasks are displayed on separate tabs. When you launch FilaBack PC for the first time, a wizard will help you make a series of initial configurations. You will have to follow a wizard's instructions when creating a backup job as well. Besides selecting a source and a destination, you can decide to include or exclude files with certain extensions, set up a schedule and more.

FileBack PC is different than other backup utilities due to the fact that it can store multiple versions of the same file. You can instruct the program to keep a certain number of versions for each file, for a maximum number of days. Additionally, you can set it to delete old versions or backups, after a certain number of months. You may create as many backup jobs as you want, depending on how many directories you want to save. You can set up a classic backup job, if you want to copy files in one direction, from a source to a destination or you can opt for a synchronization job, if you want to copy files in both directions. The synchronization mode won't allow you to compress your backed up data and it will only maintain one version of each file.

One of FileBack PC's core features is the possibility of scheduling backup jobs and creating various rules. You can set the program to back up your data automatically at a certain time and date, but you can also create various triggers. Depending on your settings, the software will back up your files when you turn your computer on or off, when you insert a disc or a removable drive, when the hardware profile changes or when other events occur.

Pros

Preparing backup jobs is quite easy. You can set the software to keep multiple versions of the same file, for a certain time period. You can also schedule backup jobs or set up various triggers.

Cons

The software's complexity may discourage novice users. With FileBack PC, you will never have to remind yourself to back up important files.
